Aim and content of the course

Participation in the Willem C. Vis Commercial Arbitration Moot Court as part of the team of the University of Vienna.

The participation fosters the study of international commercial law and the CISG through its application to a fictitious case. In the course of the Moot Court, participants are required to write two memoranda – one for the claimant, one for the respondent of the case - and prepare the pleading for the final, taking place in Vienna between 09.-14.04.2022.

For all information regarding the Moot Court and the application process, please visit Über den Vis Moot (univie.ac.at) or refer to david.vonderthannen@univie.ac.at.

Assessment criteria

Joint research and writing of two memoranda (to be handed in on December 9th and January 27th respectively); preparation of the oral pleadings

The students will be graded based on their participation in both the written and oral phase of the Moot Court. While these criteria are weighted equally, there will be no further (oral or written) examinations.

Individual coaching in the written and oral phase; participation in various Pre-Moots

Application

Students are accepted into the team based on their application documents (CV, transcipt of records) and oral interviews, which are held between 08.-15.09.2021. Accepted students will then be registered for the course automatically.
