The ICC – International Chamber of Commerce[1] was founded in 1919 and is today the worldwide largest business organization as well as the world’s leading arbitration institution. Each year it organizes the ICC International Commercial Mediation Competition[2], the world’s largest moot-court exclusively devoted to international commercial mediation. For 7 days (05.-11.02.2021) student teams representing 48 different universities gather online to complete various mock mediation sessions with the objective to resolve international business disputes through mediation, pursuant to the ICC Mediation Rules[3]. On the sidelines of around 150 mock mediation sessions, training programs and numerous social events will take place.
The University of Vienna will send a Team of 2 – 4 students to participate in this year’s Mediation Competition that will take place online. Amongst all applicants the participants will be chosen on terms of their academic achievements, motivational letter and proficiency of the teaching language. Erasmus students are welcome to apply, preference will be given to participants of the Mediation Elective (Wahlfachkorb).
